Sixth Fom Building Wins Design Award

Our Sixth Form and Performing Arts Centre has won the South Staffordshire Design Award for 2009.

Over 33 high profile architectural designs were submitted for the award this year, 12 were shortlisted, 5 won highly commended and St Dominic's won overall!!  The judges were highly impressed with all the superb features of its contemporary design within our historic school building setting.  Congratulations also go to the architects, Holloway Foo, who interpreted the brief so successfully and for a truly magnificent building for the girls and the school.

Our School is the leading independent school in Staffordshire for girls aged 2 to 18 and boys aged 2 to 7.  September 2007 saw the opening of the new Sixth Form, which has purpose built state of the art facilities as well as a Performing Arts Centre for the whole school.  For further details about these exciting new developments, please click here.

Our Independent Schools Inspection in March 2007 rated us to be outstanding in many areas.  The Inspectors said:

"The pupils at St. Dominic's receive an outstandingly broad, balanced and diverse education. The School has placed every child matters at the heart of everything it does. Academic and pastoral provision are integrated throughout every stage of the School. Pupils' personal development is also outstanding, with every child encouraged to develop in mind, body and spirit."

Our mission statement is “Growth in mind, body and spirit” and this belief in the development of the ‘whole person’, including each child’s spiritual, physical and moral well-being, as well as academic progress, is at the heart of our school.

A healthy body is a healthy mind and each child's health, fitness and well-being is important and encouraged. We provide a wide and varied range of sport, music and drama activities throughout the normal school week. Pupil participation is encouraged with friendly competitions, drama productions and working as a team in a fun and positive way.

We provide a broad and balanced curriculum with enhancement and enrichment, which enables pupils to learn about the world, the environment and themselves in a productive way, forming a solid foundation of experiences and faculties on which to build in adult life.

We have a long track record of success with consistently high pass rates at GCSE. This, combined with our unique caring ethos and modern facilities, has resulted in a very happy and successful school that we are proud to say continues to teach generation after generation.  St Dominic's girls are confident, happy, astute and focused.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the school so that you can experience for yourself why we are so special and look forward to hearing from you.
